About NFN

Welcome To Nigerian Food Network

My name is Omoruyi and its a pleasure to have you here. Nigerian Food Network is a unique lifestyle network and website that strives to be way more than cooking Nigerian food. The network is committed to exploring new and different ways to approach Nigerian food – through our rich culture, competition, adventure, and travel – while also expanding its repertoire of technique-based information.

My Story

I was born in Benin city Edo state where I grew up with 6 siblings, four wonderful sisters and two late arrivals of my brothers. My passion for food started at a very young age with watching my mother whom I still feel is the best cook ever, cultivate some tasty culinary masterpiece day after day. With four sisters around me and a master chef mother, I had no reason to learn to cook until I went to the University where I realized I was alone.

Forced to start cooking I started realizing the pleasure of bringing ingredients together for a tasty pleasure. My passion for cooking continued to grow over the years to this day.

In 2000 I migrated the island of Jamaica where I lived for  8 years dabbling in different culinary styles. I finally settled at a friend’s restaurant where I became the master chef. It was always funny when patrons ask to speak with the chef and I come out with my deep African accent as the master chef in a popular Jamaican restaurant.

In 2008 I migrated to the USA where I live to date. I run a few online businesses, have a full-time job at the USPS but never lost my passion for Nigerian food and how it delights my pallets.

I am a father, a sports enthusiast, entrepreneur, devoted Christian and obsessed with Nigerian food. So here I am to broadening the Nigerian culinary platform.

Why I Started The Nigerian Food Network.

I love watching popular cooking channels. There is a lot of fun watching recipes come together be it in a meal preparation program or cooking competition for a winner. Although these programs are very entertaining it still is focused on American recipes for the most part.

Having taken so much delight in these cooking programs and recipe creations I decided to have a network that focuses on Nigerian recipes. Be it as a recipe program or cooking competition the prime culinary creations would be all Nigerian type of food.

Also, the Nigerian food network is to bring the fun part of recipe creations and competitions to the Nigerian audience and to focus the recipes on just Nigerian food and how it delights us and enlightens our culinary culture.
